Quilt Challenges

All quilts submitted will be part of our comfort quilt supply.

Here are a few things to remember when submitting your comfort quilt

Check the quilt for loose threads
Make sure the binding is sewn on both the front and back of the quilt.
Attach your label to the back of the quilt.

In most years, the Guild challenges the members to create a quilt given a set of rules or criteria and then the resulting quilts are reviewed and voted on by the members for prizes.  Challenges are for any skill level and are usually for smaller size quilts.

Some of the challenges have been:

2020 Harriet Wilson Quilt Challenge

“Retro Blocks” The Comfort Quilt Committee recently received a fabric donation that included many completed quilt blocks circa 1980’s.

Challenge Requirements

  • We’ve provided you with one of those completed quilt blocks.  Your challenge is to bring this block to life as part of a new Comfort Quilt.  The provided block must be on the front of your new quilt.
  • The quilt will be for teen-aged to adult recipients.
  • Use fabrics and pattern of your choice.  (If needed, Comfort Quilts may be able to help with fabric from our stash.)
  • To qualify for a prize, your completed quilt must be a minimum of 50 by 65 inches.
  • Your quilt must have a label that states:

“Made with Love – Warren County Quilt Guild”

  • Before turning your quilt in, write your name on a card about 3" x 5" and then pin this card to the front of your completed quilt

Contact Joanne Harvey (513-520-1865) with questions.

Challenge Quilts will be collected, and prizes awarded at the October 14, 2020 meeting..
